Jaime Rovenstine

Jaime Rovenstine’s candle marks the third project in our Artist Series.

This project is with American artist Jaime Rovenstine from Kansas City, Jaime’s artwork is titled ‘Jellyfish in a Trifle’ and we have matched an exclusive fragrance called ‘Sea of Sage’ which is a blend of fresh sea salty breeze and sage.

Get to know Jamie a bit better:

Q. Please explain the meaning behind the artwork ‘Jellyfish in a Trifle?’
The painting was inspired after a trip to the Riviera Maya and the beautiful aqua blue of the ocean in Mexico. No meaning in particular, just pure form & color!
Q. How do you take your coffee?
Black. Funnily enough, my husband is an award-winning barista, so I am spoiled by very good coffee. We are actually in the process of opening our own shop!
Q. What’s your favourite city in the world?
Oh this is difficult. I’m going to cheat and give a U.S. answer and an international answer. 🙂 Chicago and Paris.
(I studied painting in Chicago.)
Q. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I moonlight as a painter! My day job is in the Modern & Contemporary Curatorial department of the The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Q. What’s your favourite thing about being an artist?
Contributing beauty to the world. Creating tangible objects that (I hope) bring joy and hope into people’s homes and lives.

Artist Series

This month marks the launch of Alchemy Produx’s latest release which is a series of Artist’s collaborations featuring the artwork of Australian artists Laura Blythman and Lauren Nicholson.

For the two project’s exclusive fragrances were designed and developed to match each artwork, there is a limited number of each series available.

The first project is with Laura Blythman, Laura’s artwork is titled ‘Sugar Mountain’ and we have matched an exclusive fragrance called ‘Candied Orange Peel.’

Get to know Laura a bit better:

Q. Please explain the meaning behind the artwork ‘Sugar Mountain?’
Sugar Mountain is a sugary sweet, magical, dreamy mountainy place that I created while I was watching a Horror series! Collage and colour are my happy place and my bad vibes shield!
Q. How do you take your coffee?
Espresso or long black with one sugar.
Q. What’s your favourite city in the world?
I have not been to quite as many international cities as there are on my long wish list. So, Melbourne stays firmly at the top for now.
Going to NYC this year though… so that might change!
Q. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I have a flossing teeth addiction
Q. What’s your favourite thing about being an artist?
I love the feeling that I am doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing and the excitement of not knowing how it might all evolve over the years.

The second project is with Lauren Nicholson, Lauren’s artwork is titled ‘Home’ and we have matched an exclusive fragrance called ‘Cubans & Cognac.’

Get to know Lauren a bit better:

Q. Please explain the meaning behind the artwork ‘Home?’
There is no definitive meaning, more so, a mood I am trying to convey. Texture, colour and repetition help make this happen. I like to make collages around the idea of memory, time and place.
Q. How do you take your coffee?
With milk, extra hot!
Q. What’s your favourite city in the world?
Barcelona
Q. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I am not so great at maths, something I wish was the opposite.
Q. What’s your favourite thing about being an artist?
Being able to make work about ideas and things i am interested in and feeling a connection to the process.

Lauren is have an exhibition titled ‘Strange Holiday’ at Tinning Street in Brunswick, the show opens on 4th March.
